And the award goes to...

...Huaraz and the Cordilleras, for most beautiful region Sarah has seen so far on her trip! The Cordilleras are the highest mountain range in the world outside of the Himalayas, and you can´t forget it for a second while you are there...very hard to breath!

Day One: Horseback riding through the little villages around the city of Huaraz.
My friend, Dunja, from Switzerland.
Our 12-year old guide. Probably the WORST guide ever, but really cute. At one point, my saddle slid off the horse because it was loose. So, off the horse I go and I have no way to get back on because I have no idea how to strap a saddle onto a horse. Hey, I just ride them people. Everyone was up ahead, and he just kept going without ever noticing that I was stranded. I waited and waited and finally a village boy came along. I asked him in Spanish if he knew how to put a saddle on. He looked at me really confused and said, "You don´t know how to do it?" No. I know I am on the road ALONE with a horse with the saddle in my hand...but no, the silly gringa does not know how to put the saddle back on her horse. HELP!

Taking a little break before heading back...
